Welcome to SY 2011-2012!

WELCOME ABOARD!

What social studies teachers impart as knowledge is not enough.  As members of one community, students should apply what they have learned, understood and valued from discussions inside the classroom.

In this journey of ours, we get to appreciate the value of interconnecting with other people.   As bearers of light, we should be able to learn how to deal with others, to collaborate and finally create content for the benefit of our community.

With this, let us remember the purpose of undertaking this long journey. As experts put it in context, the purpose of social studies is “…to help young people make informed and reasoned decisions for the public good as citizens of a culturally diverse, democratic society in an interdependent world.”1

Have a great school year ahead! Luceat Lux!
